Need for Natural Farming –
Agricultural production contributes more than 15% of the national GDP of India (Source). By the time of the Green Revolution use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides increased tremendously, resulting in negative impacts on the health of citizens, the economy of farmers and dependency on synthetic inputs (Source).
Therefore, an alternative to conventional farming was necessary to fight against hunger and malnutrition. The transition to conventional farming came in the form of organic farming and natural farming which has the potential to reduce harmful impacts on health and the environment.
